5 PH universities make it to the 2025 QS World University Rankings; UP, ADMU make huge jump

Five universities in the Philippines continue to be part of the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings with two booking substantial increases.

The University of the Philippines maintained its lead among the country’s universities and leapfrogged to 336th from 404th in 2024. 

The Ateneo de Manila University also made a significant jump to 516th from its previous year’s rank of 563rd. 

The De La Salle University came in third, climbing to the 641-650 bracket from the 681-690 range. 

The University of Santo Tomas followed but slid to the 851-900 bracket from 801-850.

The University of San Carlos came last, also edging down to the band of 1,401 and onwards from its 1,201-1,400 bracket. 

This year’s ranking is the largest ever, featuring over 1,500 universities across 105 higher education systems. 

The United States is the most represented country or territory, with 197 ranked institutions, followed by the United Kingdom with 90 and mainland China with 71. 

For the 13th consecutive year, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) maintains its reign at the top. Imperial College London jumps four places to take second and the University of Oxford and Harvard University are in third and fourth place respectively. The University of Cambridge rounds out the top five.
