President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has enacted two new laws establishing a senior high school and an elementary school in Bacoor City, Cavite, marking a key step in expanding educational facilities in the area.
Republic Act No. 12007 establishes the Progressive Senior High School in Progressive Village 3, Barangay Bayanan, while Republic Act No. 12008 creates the Progressive Elementary School in Barangay Molino 2.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Palace said that both schools will be under the Department of Education’s (DepEd) supervision, following the signing of the measure by the president on June 13.
Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte has been directed to integrate the new schools into the department’s operational program immediately and to develop the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) within 90 days.
“Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte is ordered to immediately include in the department’s program the operationalization of the senior high and elementary schools,” said the Presidential Communications Office.
The IRR will outline the schools’ organizational and administrative structures, consistent with the Governance of Basic Education Act of 2001 and the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013.
The bills for the establishment of the Progressive Senior High School and the Progressive Elementary School in Bacoor City, Cavite were filed by Representative Lani Mercado-Revilla et al. in the 19th Congress of the Philippine House of Representatives. The bills were House Bill No. 8701 and House Bill No. 5591, respectively.
The new laws will take effect 15 days after their publication in the Official Gazette or a newspaper of general circulation.
