TESDA, GCash brings free skills training to more Filipinos

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has partnered with e-wallet giant and super app GCash to make TESDA’s free online courses more accessible to Filipinos

TESDA Director General Kiko Benitez and G-Xchange Inc. Vice President and Head of Innovations Leonardo Ferdinand Byron Perez has signed the Memorandum of Understanding which made the TESDA Online Program (TOP) website now accessible through the GCash app. The GJobs section, powered by referral platform PasaJob, allows users to access industry-relevant courses and explore job opportunities all within the GCash ecosystem.

“Through this collaboration with GCash, we can reach more Filipinos and equip them with the industry-relevant skills and opportunities they need to succeed in today’s evolving job market,” Benitez said.

“By integrating TESDA’s programs within the GCash platform, we are empowering individuals with the tools they need to build financial independence and secure meaningful job opportunities in the digital economy,” said G-Xchange Inc. Vice President and Head of Innovations Leonardo Ferdinand Byron Perez.

Under the agreement, TESDA and GCash will also further explore how financial technology tools can improve digital learning and how GCash’s features and its vast user base can boost the reach of the TOP.

TESDA’s TOP is an online platform offering free courses in various fields, including finance, information technology, tourism and agriculture. As of writing, the TOP has 187 courses.

It may be recalled that TESDA had tapped GCash to provide the former’s scholars the option to receive their Training Support Fund via GCash. Likewise, Globe and TM subscribers were given free data access to the TOP during the pandemic.
