Realizing theory: DLSU EconOrg’s Young Economists’ Convention 2025 on strengthening institutions for development

The Young Economists’ Convention (YEC) of the De La Salle University Economics Organization proudly presents the 16th Young Economists’ International Convention (YE InterCon), the organization’s flagship academic conference that gathers the brightest young minds, distinguished economists, and development leaders from across the country. This year’s convention carries the theme: “Shaping Inclusive Institutions for
Long-term Economic Prosperity.”

The YEC stands as a premier platform that cultivates economic understanding and leadership among youth, equipping them to become holistic and socially responsible individuals. It seeks to raise awareness of pressing economic issues, sharpen critical thinking skills, and foster a legacy of excellence in economic research and policy development.

Scheduled to take place on June 18 (2:00 PM–4:00 PM) and June 21 (1:00 PM–5:00 PM), the 16th YE InterCon aims to deepen the youth’s understanding of how strong, inclusive and transparent institutions serve as the foundation for long-term economic growth. Through a series of keynote addresses, expert panels, and interactive workshops, delegates will explore institutional frameworks that influence fiscal policy, promote
inclusive governance, and enhance resilience in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

This year’s program highlights include:

Keynote Session by Dr. Jesus Felipe on “The Philippine Economy in 2050”
Panel Discussion on “Creating an Inclusive Economic Future” featuring Dr. Emmanuel De Dios, Dr. Mariel Sauler, Mr. Roberto Batungbacal and Usec.
Rosemarie Edillon

Student Panel Discussion on “Shaping Purpose: The Journey from Economics Education to Impact” led by student leaders from across the country

Building on its longstanding legacy, this year’s YE InterCon provides more than just insights; It offers a collaborative platform for participants to raise critical questions, co-create solutions and build lasting connections.

The event is open to all students nationwide and provides opportunities for academic recognition, professional networking, and personal growth. Stay updated and register through the DLSU Economics Organization’s official social media pages.
