The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has made significant strides in improving education infrastructure and accessibility, with a focus on providing quality education to its growing student population.
According to the Bangsamoro Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE), the region has built over 700 classrooms and hired 5,000 new teaching and non-teaching personnel, marking a major transformation in the education landscape.
MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal said that the ministry has been at the forefront of these initiatives, focusing on improving school facilities in preparation for the opening of the school year 2024-2025.
“We will not stop until every child has access to quality education,” said MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal.
Iqbal said the ministry has so far completed around 700 classrooms in various provinces and cities, with over 500 more classrooms undergoing rehabilitation
The region has also seen a significant increase in enrollment, with over 219,591 new students this year, a 17% rise compared to the previous year.
The total number of enrolled students now stands at 1,258,253, including students in government-run “madaris” (Islamic schools) and community learning centers.
“No child should be left behind, and education should be accessible to all, including Alternative Learning System program learners.”
The MBHTE has allocated a substantial budget of P30.2 billion for education this year, the highest among all BARMM ministries.
The efforts aim to provide quality education to the growing student population, with the region’s education ministry allocating a substantial budget to enhance facilities and services.
The initiatives are expected to have a significant impact on the region’s education landscape, providing better learning opportunities for students and enhancing the overall quality of education.
