HONOR PH, PHINMA tie up to boost education efforts

Global technology brand HONOR Philippines has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the PHINMA Foundation to strengthen their long-term commitment to boosting initiatives to benefit students.

As part of their initiative, they launched “Pad Your Way to the Future” on Wednesday, May 21, donating HONOR Pad X9a tablets— each customized for academic use with AI-powered features, a large display and durable performance—to 25 PHINMA Foundation scholars.

Stephen Cheng, Vice President of HONOR Philippines, said the agreement underscores their “commitment to shaping a better future through education.”

“We believe in the power of technology to transform lives, especially when placed in the hands of passionate learners and educators. Through this collaboration, we hope to open new doors—doors to learning, to [grow], and to greater opportunities,” said Stephen Cheng, Vice President of HONOR Philippines,” Cheng added.

Meanwhile, Ron Reyes, Executive Director of PHINMA, emphasized the academic challenges faced by scholars due to limited access to devices, noting that some are forced to borrow phones or wait their turn at public computer shops just to keep up with their studies.

“This donation from HONOR could not have come at a better time. With these tablets, students will now have access to digital tools that will enhance their education, their connectivity, and ultimately, their future,” Reyes stated.

Among the recipients of the tablet was Joshua Romero, a student from Philippine Normal University, who shared how grateful he was upon receiving the tablet as according to him, his current laptop was hard to use, resulting in finishing his tasks longer.

With Romero having a new device, he hopes to “study more effectively, stay organized, and access new opportunities that were once out of reach.”

HONOR is a global provider of smart devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops and wearables to suit every budget.
