The Philippine Public School Teachers Association (PPSTA) launched on June 10 a nationwide search to honor outstanding teachers and school heads for 2024.
The initiative aims to recognize educators who go above and beyond their duties, demonstrating exceptional commitment, innovative teaching methods, and a positive impact on student learning.
“This prestigious initiative aims to identify and honor those who have demonstrated remarkable commitment, innovation, and effectiveness in their educational practices,” stated the PPSTA.
Teachers and school heads are evaluated based on a set of criteria, including instructional competence, leadership qualities, community involvement, and their overall impact on students’ development.
The selection process involves nominations from Department of Education (DepEd) officials and PPSTA members.
“Together, let us celebrate the outstanding achievements of our educators and ensure that their exemplary work continues to inspire and uplift the standards of education in our country,” the PPSTA added.
Those interested in nominating an educator can find the complete guidelines, titled “Search for Outstanding Teachers and School Heads,” on the DepEd website.
Nominations can be submitted by students, parents, colleagues, or school administrators.
The downloadable document outlines the specific criteria for selecting outstanding teachers, including exceptional teaching skills, innovative approaches, and strong student outcomes, effective classroom management, and collaboration with colleagues and school administrators.
The search also emphasizes recognizing and rewarding these exceptional educators.
According to PPSTA, outstanding teachers will be recognized through various means, including public recognition at school events, professional development opportunities, and potentially, monetary awards and bonuses.
This annual recognition program underscores the vital role that teachers play in shaping the future of Filipino youth.
By celebrating excellence in education, PPSTA hopes to inspire current and future generations of educators to make a positive impact on their students’ lives.
