The University of the Philippines (UP) has launched a new direct bus service from its Los Baños campus (UPLB) to UP Diliman (UPD) in Quezon City, making travel between the two campuses easier for students, faculty and community members.
The service, in partnership with DLTB Co., aims to provide a reliable and efficient commuting option, UPLB announced.
The bus route will operate on weekdays, with scheduled departures from UPLB at 5 AM, 1 PM and 6 PM, and from UPD at 5 AM, 9 AM and 6 PM.
Key pickup points include the Velasco Avenue loading bay near the UPLB main gate and the Lakandula Extension corner Jacinto Street in UPD.
The fare for this service is set at P165.00.
UPLB Vice Chancellor Roberto P. Cereno said the initiative is part of the UPLB Green Mobility Initiative, which encourages public transport use to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, ease traffic congestion and improve accessibility.
“The organization of a direct commuter bus service connection is a testament to our commitment to ensuring the well-being of our community members, especially those who regularly travel between Los Baños and Diliman,” he said.
He added that the goal is to provide a “seamless, comfortable and safer travel experience for everyone.”
This collaboration comes after rising demand for a direct bus service due to increased intercampus activities, research partnerships and participation in university events.
UPLB conducted a survey among nearly 3,000 respondents to gauge interest in the service before launching test runs on August 19.
In addition to this bus route, UPLB has also introduced e-bikes and e-scooters through Tipaklong Sustainable Mobility Corp., promoting greener transportation options on campus.
