The Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) Science Education Institute (SEI) will be providing financial assistance to 10,756 students who passed the 2024 DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Qualifying Examination.

The volume accounts for 12% of all 89,510 candidates who took the qualifying examination in April 2024. It is also larger than the 9,776 students who earned the DOST scholarship in the previous academic year.

This year, 5,839 students qualified under the RA 7687 Scholarship Program, which supports academically talented students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. 

Additionally, 4,917 students have been awarded the Merit Scholarship Program, designed for those with high aptitude in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). 

There are also 244 potential qualifiers whose names have yet to be announced upon the resubmission of specific requirements.

These new scholars will begin receiving benefits in the first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year. 

The scholarship package includes a monthly stipend of P8,000, tuition fee subsidies up to P40,000 per academic year for private university students, allowances for learning materials and connectivity, a one-time clothing allowance, an annual roundtrip fare for students studying outside their home provinces, a thesis allowance, a graduation allowance and group accident insurance.

To avail of the scholarship, students must enroll in a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree program in any of the priority S&T fields at state universities or colleges, or at private institutions recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as Centers of Excellence or Centers of Development. For the academic year 2024-2025, new programs include BS Sports Science, BS Data Science, BS Agribusiness Economics, and BS Orthotics and Prosthetics.
