The most in-demand vocational courses offered in TESDA are on construction, information and communications technology and agriculture, among others.
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) said that 27,358 individuals have graduated from its technical-vocational education and training (TVET) programs in the Bicol region.
The achievement highlights TESDA’s commitment to equip individuals with relevant skills and connect them to job opportunities, TESDA-Bicol Regional Director Mariglo Sese said.
“Together with DOLE, at every job fair, we get the data of the TESDA graduates and we connect with them,” Sese said, according to a report by the Philippine News Agency.
She added that they provide guidance on resume preparation and interview techniques to help graduates secure employment.
“There are many jobs that need skills that are in demand, so with a national certificate (NC), TESDA graduates have bigger opportunities,” Sese said, adding that 83.98% of TVET graduates in Bicol were able to secure jobs.
TESDA offers free programs to anyone who qualifies. In Bicol, there are seven TESDA schools, eight training centers, 128 private technical vocational institutions, 21 higher education institutions, 33 farm schools and 71 mobile training programs available for aspiring students.
Additionally, the region boasts 3,157 TVET trainers, 289 training providers, 1,487 registered TVET programs, 441 accredited assessment centers, and 572 accredited assessors.
