The University of the Philippines (UP) has officially begun construction on its new tech campus in Dasmariñas, Cavite, eight years after announcing the project.

UP President Angelo Jimenez confirmed that the UP-Dasmariñas Technology Innovation Campus will be built on a five-hectare site within Villar City’s University Town.
The property was donated by Vista Land and Lifescapes Inc. as part of a memorandum of agreement signed in 2016.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place earlier this month, with P300 million allocated from the 2024 national budget for construction.
The campus will feature a six-story building with a total floor area of 22,932 square meters.
Jimenez hopes that the new campus will attract talented students and inspire future generations. He also emphasized UP’s commitment in building iconic structures that can elevate education in the country.
Dasmariñas City Mayor Jennifer Barzaga expressed her gratitude to UP for choosing the city as the site for the educational initiative.
Barzaga said the new campus will be “a place where students will be empowered to explore their passions, develop their skills, and prepare to make impactful contributions to our society.”
In addition to the new campus, UP signed 10 memoranda of agreement with DPWH last September 4 to enhance infrastructure across its system. These agreements support projects exceeding P5 million under the 2024 General Appropriations Act.
The combined budget for various infrastructure projects across UP’s campuses total more than P1.8 billion.
