Students in the Philippines who sat for the May 2025 International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) exams achieved an average score of 32.41 points, outperforming the global average of 30.58 points.
A total of 815 students in the Philippines were among 202,103 candidates worldwide who received results for the IB’s DP and Career-related Programme (CP) this month. The number of students taking the programmes globally increased by 4.8% compared to last year.
Founded in 1968, the International Baccalaureate is renowned for its emphasis on critical thinking, intercultural understanding and academic rigor, with the Brookings Institute recognizing it as one of seven educational systems that sets high expectations for both academic learning and holistic student development.
It offers four programmes for learners aged 3 to 19: the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, DP and CP. These are designed to develop globally minded individuals equipped for the challenges of the 21st century.
IB qualifications also open doors to scholarships and advanced credits. It is currently offered in 33 schools in the Philippines and over 5,900 schools across 160 countries.
Students worldwide completed all assessments, including exams and coursework, for the May 2025 session. The IB plans to release a more detailed statistical report in the coming weeks.
