Canva Philippines recently launched various efforts to enhance Filipino educators’ visual skills and use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in Canva to integrate visual communication effectively into teaching practices.

At the Canva Education Summit held last week, Canva said it partnered with Rakso ED, its first local partner to train teachers to leverage Canva in creating resources that streamline their work while promoting effective visuals.

Rakso ED or Rakso EduX is a technology and solutions provider dedicated to advancing education through digital learning. The company supports schools in their transition to digital education by identifying their specific needs and delivering tailored training.

“As visual communication becomes an even more critical skill for our students to have, we share in Canva Philippines’ commitment to make design literacy accessible to all and to empower both Filipino students and teachers with the tools and skills to navigate our constantly changing digital world,” Allen Vasquez, president of Rakso ED, said.

Canva also formally launched its Teacher Essentials, a free certification course designed to equip educators with the basic skills needed to leverage Canva effectively in teaching. The courses explore topics such as lesson planning, using Magic Studio and fostering student creativity.

The latest efforts form part of Canva’s broader goal to make its platform accessible to the school community.

In 2019, the company launched Canva for Education, which offers K-12 schools, teachers and students free access to Canva’s suite of design tools. This initiative has evolved to include customizable resources, enhanced accessibility, and AI tools that simplify lesson planning and enhance creativity.

Currently, over 600,000 schools and 70 million educators and students worldwide benefit from Canva.

In the Philippines, Canva’s Facebook community alone for teachers alone has over 152,000 members as of writing.
