The National University (NU) is expanding its reach beyond Luzon, opening its first-ever campus in the Visayas region. The new NU Bacolod campus, launched on June 15 at the Main Atrium of SM City Bacolod, aims to provide affordable educational opportunities to students in the area.

Initially, NU Bacolod will offer Bachelor of Science (B.S.) programs in Psychology, Accountancy, Computer Science, and Tourism Management. The university conducted market research to ensure these courses address the needs of the local job market.

Ryan Joy Dizon, NU Bacolod’s executive/academic director acknowledged a local shortage of accountants and believe their existing successful programs from the Manila campus, particularly in Accountancy, will be well-received in Bacolod.

“With some considerations, we see Bacolod as a very viable and promising prospect with all the research and market study we did,” she said during the launch.

Dizon explained NU aims to replicate its best practices in Bacolod. “The idea is to duplicate what NU is doing well. We know how to implement it in a way that satisfies our students’ needs,” she added.

The new campus is an eight-story building with dedicated parking and classrooms.

Enrollment for senior high school and college students is ongoing. Classes are set to begin on August 5, with an inauguration ceremony planned for September.

The launch has generated significant interest, with NU Bacolod receiving a high number of enrollees from Bacolod City and nearby areas.

According to a report by Daily Guardian, Nicholerose Alit is the first student to enroll at NU Bacolod, pursuing a B.S. in Psychology.

The arrival of NU in Bacolod expands educational options for parents and students in the area. NU emphasizes affordability, aiming to provide accessible quality education to anyone interested.
