Construction began recently on a new two-story provincial office building for the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Baler, Aurora. The project aims to address the growing demand for vocational training and enhance workforce development in the province.

The 500-square meter facility will provide dedicated spaces for staff, training, and administration. This will allow TESDA to offer a broader range of technical and vocational courses to Aurora residents.

“This is a more optimum and effective area for us to completely implement our technical vocational education and training (TVET) programs,” said TESDA Regional Director Toni June Tamayo.

“In addition to the multifunctional facility, there are more spaces for community-based training,” he added.

The P14.48-million building is funded by the 2024 General Appropriations Act and is being constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

“The upcoming facility will include a staff workstation, provincial director’s room, multipurpose hall, and other amenities to enrich the learning environment,” said DPWH Aurora District Engineer Roderick Andal during the groundbreaking.

He emphasized the project’s importance, noting the limitations of the current TESDA building in meeting the growing demand for TVET programs.

“It hinders the ability of trainees to acquire competitive job market skills,” Andal said.

Aurora Lone District Representative Rommel Angara expressed his support for the initiative, highlighting its potential to benefit the local workforce.

“The establishment of this modern TESDA facility is expected to attract more students seeking vocational education, thereby contributing to the overall development and enhancement of the local workforce,” Angara remarked.

The new TESDA building will offer courses in automotive technology, culinary arts, and information technology, aligning with the demands of the modern workforce. This will provide Aurora residents with the opportunity to develop skills that are in high demand by employers.
