Quick-thinking Cebu nursing student saves road crash victim

A nursing student from Cebu Normal University (CNU) has earned praise after performing a quick-thinking and life-saving medical response during a shocking road accident in Argao, Cebu on Monday afternoon.

Lourd Danleeh Enanoza, a Level 4 nursing student and volunteer rescuer with Search & Rescue 160, was driving home when he witnessed a van allegedly overtaking and crashing into a tricycle, pinning two people beneath the vehicle.

Without hesitation, Enanoza pulled over and instructed the nearby bystanders to contact the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) for immediate assistance.

Enanoza swiftly assessed the victims’ conditions, retrieved his first aid kit and with limited resources, controlled the victim’s bleeding from a head injury using gauze pads. He monitored vital signs until Argao MDRRMO personnel arrived at the scene.

“Time really saves lives,” said Enanoza.

The act drew praise not only from witnesses at the scene but also from netizens, who lauded Enanoza’s courage and presence of mind during the emergency.

“Hoping to work with you side by side in healthcare,” one comment reads.

“Yes, that’s the importance of being prepared,” the other one commented.

CNU, in a statement, said the incident highlights the critical importance of community preparedness and the ability of individuals to respond effectively during emergencies.
